Finding the Right Balance

There are few things that can be more annoying than the emotional roller coaster that many women experience with menopause.  From the happy highs to the lowest of lows, finding a balance in our mental state can be difficult, especially with the fluctuations in hormones throughout our menstrual cycles.  In order to find a happy medium in our emotional state, try a few of these ideas.

Supplementation

Many women do not get enough vitamins and minerals in their daily diets.  This causes our bodies to fall out of homeostasis, which is a fancy scientific word for balance within our bodies.  Homeostasis can only be maintained when we are taking in adequate amounts of nutrition in the right concentrations.  To ensure that you are getting the correct nutrients out of your daily food intake, consult with your physician on taking nutritional supplements.

Adequate Sleep

Menopause can lead to fatigue which can then aggravate an already tender emotional state.  Getting at least 8 hours of sleep during the week will allow your body to rest and recover.  Hormonal fluctuations and emotional instability can take a lot out of you, so fight back by allowing your body to regenerate with sleep.  If you are finding that sleep is difficult for you, consult your physician who can recommend a treatment program that allows you to get the valuable sleep that you need.

Meditation

If you are not familiar with meditation, think of it as a five minute vacation from the stressfulness of reality.  Take five minutes each day to practice clearing your mind and focusing on relaxation.  There are several website available to guide you through a five minute meditation, and many sites will also provide background music to help keep you focused.  When your mind is at rest, you will find that your heart rate and level of stress will both be reduced.

Menopause does not have to wreak havoc in your life.  By following these steps you can be taking charge of the roughest points in a female’s monthly cycle.  If you are finding that these steps aren’t enough to reduce your menopause symptoms, consult your physician for more tips or information on medications that can reduce your suffering.
